It's been just under 4 years on Xanga and I've finally made the switch. I got my own webspace and domain! Look for the same kind of content at http://blog.ben61a.com. I'll be adding some other content-based mini-sites to it soon.

Ahhhh motherland! This is cool! (I think my coworkers were talking about it a few months ago but I never noticed it until now.)

1. Go to http://local.live.com

2. Type "safeway" in the "Search for a business" box, for example

3. Put in "anchorage, alaska" (or something equally absurd) in the "City, address, or landmark" box.

4. Let the results come up

5. Click "Call For Free" and enter your phone number

6. Let the system (I don't even know what system it is) call you and connect you to the business for free!

You may need to be signed in with a Windows Live account... if you have an account that is on Windows Live Mail Beta, you can sign in with that.

I think I'm going to get owned by a mob of height-challenged people for posting this, but as a ... person who... er... finds weird things on the internet, I have to post it:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - While researchers have long shown that tall people earn more than their shorter counterparts, it's not only social discrimination that accounts for this inequality -- tall people are just smarter than their height-challenged peers, a new study finds.

"As early as age three -- before schooling has had a chance to play a role -- and throughout childhood, taller children perform significantly better on cognitive tests," wrote Anne Case and Christina Paxson of Princeton University in a paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

"Great minds think alike."

A stupid mind must have created this saying. And a lot of silly people must have propagated and multiplied it over the years.

Just because you have the same thought as someone, it does not qualify you as having a great mind. Two stupid people could very well think the same stupid thought and still not have great minds. Unless by great you mean not great.

That saying is starting to become one of my pet peeves, right up there with people confusing "your" and "you're," and people saying "literally" when they mean "figuratively." I literally die when people make that mistake.

A few years back we executed a mission that involved repeating time. Ever since then I've wanted to try something that stopped or slowed down time. How would people react if they found themselves surrounded by people moving forward at a different rate or time (or not moving at all)? I decided the Home Depot on 23rd Street in Manhattan was the perfect place to try this out for two reasons. 1) The assonance in "Slo-Mo Home Depot" sounds funny. 2) The mere existence of a Home Depot, an enormous behemoth of a store, on our tiny island is hilarious. It also helped that the store is located on the exact same block as the Best Buy we invaded earlier this year.
